I've never really had a die-hard interest in collections that feature mainly flouncy dresses and glamourous gowns, but this collection reminded me that it's okay to be girly and that i have to try not to wear variations of black, blue and grey once in a while. When i do, i stay away from loud colours. This colour palette totally works for me.

I got these two dresses today. I've been eyeing the cream one for a real long time, and i finally have an occasion to wear it to so i got it! It's really cute, short and full at the bottom with an exposed zip at the back. The blue one because i had to spend my Topshop vouchers (i ended up getting yet another voucher...urgh) and i was inspired by this look.

I just discovered this Singaporean streetstyle blog by a photographer named James Bent. It's not bad but the people who dress like those in the photos are rare, most Singaporean youngsters go around in tiny dresses, loose tops and shorts (for girls) and t-shirt-jeans/cut-offs combo (for guys)...which is nothing bad. It's understandable, since our weather is stinking hot.

I tried it on both visits i made to ZARA this week, and each time i did, i died a little inside. The silhouette of the shoe is gorgeous! The height is a little too much for me (i'm hopeless when it comes to heels) and the price at 169SGD is a little too steep for a 19 year-old. Either i wait for it to go on sale or i find cheaper and lower alternatives.

I swear i've been having the hardest time finding myself a decent pair! I did chance upon one almost two weeks ago from The Scarlet Room but it was sold-out! My good friend is flying to HongKong soon for a shopping trip and i'm hoping she'll bring back a pair of panelled leggings for me.

I've always been a bit skeptical about connector rings because it kinda restricts finger movement but i thought 'Screw that!' and ordered this anyway. The sparrow on it won me over, thanks to my recent obsession with bird-ish designs (i think almost everyone who's seen Miumiu's 2010 Spring campaign is).

Got this maxi dress in the mail two days ago, i've been waiting for it for 3 weeks! It's really simple, it hugs at all the right places (ends mid calf) and it was so cheap (SGD 18 which is about USD 15 or less?)! I need to think of ways to dress it up keeping in mind the extremely erratic weather we're having here (it's terribly hot in the day and is pours at night).

So i bought a tank dress during one of my regular visits to Cotton On's sale store (i like going there to get basics but i refuse to buy their regular priced items, so not worth it) and i tried it on only yesterday. Half the girls in Singapore probably have it because it's Cotton On and it was $5, so if i wear it everyone will know where i got it from. I realised it hugged a bit more than i expected and it was WAY to long, i decided to modify it. So i hitched it up, gathered all the excess cloth and tied it into a knot (did some sewing), and tadaa done!

I've been wanting to do the Burberry Prorsum knot skirt for quite sometime but it takes alot for me to get down and start doing a proper sewing job. This DIY took me 10 minutes?

You can see my hot pink bed and what an organised mess my wardrobe is. Oh, i coloured my hair a few days ago, it used to be jet black. Having coloured hair gives me a reason to wear more black without looking like Wednesday Addams.

The girl in the third picture isn't me, she's my BFF! Met my girl last Thursday for lunch at a Japanese restaurant called Ministry of Food and some shopping in town. I got that pair of shorts in the last picture, it's made of jersey! Sidenote, i feel quite stupid for causing unnecessary damage to my new polka dot tights. Urgh.

Damage done. The bandeau bra's really cute, doubles as tanning wear and i got two more racerbacks. The weather's been so bad lately i've been going around in oversized tanks, denim shorts and sandals. What's your lazy-day dressing like?

My last few purchases.

Shaggy grey sweater from G-market, black pocket tank and lace tank/minidress from Cotton On (dirt cheap, cost me SGD 20 in total, which is about USD 14?), faux leather bandage skirt and Forever 21 necklace

The shaggy sweater looks similiar to what Rumi from Fashion Toast has on in this picture, just that mine is oversized and cropped, exactly the way i like it. :)

Patched Jeans

I was on a long blogging hiatus because 1) i currently have a holiday job and it takes up most of my time i hardly have time to relax (except on weekends) and 2) i don't think i have any regular readers so my hiatus will not affect anyone.

Anyways, i'm back for a tiny bit.

Because i'm bored of wearing plain jeans, i decided to DIY a pair of mix denim patched jeans such as those from H&M in the first picture and Chloe S/S 2010 in the second.

It's pretty easy. Just mark out how large you want your patch to be on the leg of your jeans, use a piece of paper and fold it to suit the shape, cut it out, trace the pattern on your jean material (the one you want to patch the pair of jeans with), leave a 1cm margin around the patch so that you can fold it in (i recommend iron the margin flat) to prevent the denim patch from fraying (or you can just leave it) and just pin it on your jeans and sew it on!

I've done one leg already, but i'm a little lazy to continue on the other.

I cannot tell you how much i love that pair of jeans and how badly i want it. I believe that pair Dree has on is from Mango and i saw it in Mango's A/W 2009 catalogue a while ago. I NEED THEM SO BADLY. I'm so pissed that local Mango stores chose to stock the jeans after the year-end sale, which means it won't be discounted. URGH. And it's still not available yet!

I've never wanted a pair of jeans so badly in my life! I'm just worried it'd be sold out...please please let it be mine!

The dress code for a new year's party i'm attending is all-white. I wanted to get some inspiration for my outfit, so i went to Style and searched 'white'. These were my favourites from Elie Saab Fall 2008.

Well my outfit will be far from these because it has to be functional (there won't be any chairs at the party and the setting is similiar to an open-concert with loud music and all), but these pictures were lovely to look at!

Love her style, don't you? These looks remind me that i should take a break from wearing shorts and start pulling out my jeans and leggings from the back of my wardrobe. The thing about living in Singapore is, it's more comfortable to wear shorts, skirts and short dresses...something cooling because the weather is hot 365 days a year (except we get rather erratic weather towards the end of the year, it can be mad warm in the earlier parts of the day and pouring like crazy for the rest of it).

I've been ditching jeans and leggings for almost an entire year...i can totally count the number of times i've worn anything that goes beyond the knee, and it doesn't even go beyond...10 times?!

That settles it then...i'm wearing jeans tomorrow.

This is my DIY version of the Helmut Lang jersey maxi. I raised the neckline and made the arm holes smaller because the original version is pretty revealing. I wanted to put up a picture of me in it, but i'm having a bad hair day. This is my first time making a dress and my first experimenting with jersey. I think it turned out pretty well, yes?
